RALLYLEGEND MOURNS THE LOSS OF CHRISTOF KLAUSNER Republic of San Marino.
Following the summer break, the organisational team behind Rallylegend, set to take place in the Republic of San Marino on 7-10 October, gets back to work and does so in style, announcing the first of many big names that will make this nineteenth edition so memorable. One of the best-loved riders of all time, Loris Capirossi will line up at the San Marino event, driving a Michelin branded last generation R5 car and wearing Sparco race gear. "I’m very pleased to take part in Rallylegend – comments “Capirex” – an event that celebrates the history of this sport each year, with all the stars that have made history. To be one of the guests is a real honour. I’m a rally enthusiast and to be able to see all the historic vehicles and great drivers who drove them will be really exciting. I thank Michelin, operation manager, and Sparco for race gear: it is a great opportunity and I think we’re going to have a lot of fun". Capirossi won the 125 world championship in 1990 and 1991, with the team Pileri Honda RS125R, before triumphing in the 250 class with the Aprilia in 1998. From 2000 to 2011 he competed in the reigning 500 class, which became MotoGP, starting out with team Pons, before spending five years with the Ducati team, three seasons with Suzuki and his final year with Pramac Racing. His best overall championship result was a third-place finish in both 2001 and 2006. His experience on four wheels is limited to appearances in the Monza rally – like many of his rider colleagues – where he achieved fifth place in the Super 2000 class in 2012, his most recent result. Loris Capirossi is now the Dorna representative for MotoGP Race Direction.
RALLYLEGEND VILLAGE GROWS AND INCORPORATES A SINGLE SUPPORT AREA FOR ALL TEAMS One single, large support area will service all registered teams inside the Rallylegend Village. A new feature for 2021, the fans are bound to love it as they will be able to see all the wonderful cars in one unique setting, inside the “Village”, which is the beating heart of Rallylegend. REGISTRATION REMAINS OPEN UNTIL 22 SEPTEMBER Would-be entrants still have time to sign up, with registration open until Wednesday 22 September, while the online sale of tickets continues. The rally, taking place as part of Rallylegend 2021, will get underway on Friday 8 October, with a brand-new special stage, longer than usual, to be repeated twice. On Saturday 9 October the action continues with a loop of three special stages to be repeated twice, with the show-stopping event drawing to a close on Sunday 10 October. Cars competing fall into the Historic, Myth and the World Rally Car categories.
In the latter group, a restricted number of R5 vehicles will compete as part of an experiment. An additional, stimulating challenge between generations of rally “supercar”, part of the very DNA of Rallylegend. The highly appreciated Rallylegend Heritage is also confirmed, with its precious, original “pedigree” historic rally cars, a shop window of select vehicles competing in a Sport Regularity race. RALLYLEGEND MOURNS THE LOSS OF CHRISTOF KLAUSNER One of the stars of Rallylegend over many editions, Christof Klausner, 46, has tragically passed away following a road accident on Sunday 22 August. “A real thrill-seeker, a wonderful person, a true enthusiast, and a friend, particularly to Rallylegend, which he loved like no other race – remember Vito Piarulli and Paolo Valli – a love that was reciprocated by our wonderful audience, for whom he was a real hero. Rallylegend loses one of its biggest stars. We will never forget Christof and his sporting achievements and we will find a way to remember him and keep him with us already during this edition…”
